Charlie Austen performs at Hove House Concerts

Charlie Austen

Hastings-based Charlie Austen treated us to a collection of original songs (Kate Bush’ Hounds of Love aside) that could hardly have been more varied or entertaining – from stark confessionals to brisk foot-tappers, plenty of stories and anecdotes in between, and the kind of winning performance that makes friends of the audience almost immediately. Add in some fine guitar playing and a drum kit made of out a suitcase (apparently a lockdown project) which sounded absolutely fantastic and the result was an evening to remember.
